The California section celebrated Earth Day and John Muir's Birthday on 17th
April on the grounds of John Muir Historical Society in Martinez, CA.
A group of volunteers including four chemistry students from SFSU, industry,

government and academia interacted with hundreds of families, kids and
adults, by demonstrating chemical concepts using plant products keeping the
theme; "Plants: The Green Machine", in mind and explained/discussed the role
of chemists in sustainable future through green chemistry philosophy.
