  A novel silole deriv., 1,1-dimethyl-2,3,4,5-tetraanisole    silole, has been synthesized and characterized in dioxane and   THF  solns.  The characterization involved detg.   absorption and luminescence  emission properties,   luminescence quantum yields, and excited state  lifetimes in   each of the solvents.  A study of  aggregation-induced   emission in dioxane/water and THF/water systems and a detn. of   electrochem. properties will also be described.  The results   will be compared to those for 1,1-dimethyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenyl   silole and 1,1-dimethyl-2,3,4,5-tetratolyl silole to illustrate   the effect of a strongly electron-donating substituent on silole   properties.
