My name is Ascanio Guarini and I go to the United Nations International School here in New York City. I’m also currently an International Baccalaureate diploma candidate taking higher-level chemistry and physics. Last year I worked at MSKCC here in NYC, with a total of 105 laboratory hours completed. This year, however, is a very challenging year academically as there is the extended essay I have to deal with, which is essentially a 2,000-word paper on a topic of my choice. As an avid science student I really wish to do interesting research such as assisting in a current project, and perhaps use the studied topic as the basis of my independent essay. I have been searching for different laboratories in the New York area and want to do real scientific research for my IB extended essay. If anyone out there can help me in my endeavour it would be greatly appreciated. If you could ether refer me to a principal investigator who would be open to having a high school student with previous lab experience or are one yourself, that would be great.
