A graduate student, at the suggestion of a member of her dissertation committee, does some experiments at another institution, being assured that this is collaboration.  The other institution submits a paper involving some work she did there, but not listing her as a co-author.  She is unable to get either her supervisor or the committee member to support her claim of co-authorship.
