Professor A presents an exciting, but untested, idea at a department “brown bag” seminar.  She does not assign the project to any of her students, since she is involved with many more studies.  After a year, a grad student (for professor B) who attended the seminar requests permission to work on the experiments, with the intention of giving professor A full credit for the idea.  Professor B supports this, but professor A says “no.”
