Porphyrin tape mols. are promising for use in NIR photodetector applications. By extending the conjugation length in this broad class of materials, the absorption is extended from the near visible to deep into the NIR. The detector performance is influenced by the functionalizing substituent mol. that, in turn, affects the film crystal structure and morphol.
