  Abstract: 2-Hydroxyphenyl-substituted   m-terphenylcarbaldimine and corresponding amine were prepd.;   methylaluminum complexes of both chelate ligands were   characterized by x-ray crystallog. 2,4,6-Triphenylbenzaldehyde   (1) undergoes a condensation reaction with 2-aminophenol to give   N-(2',4',6'-triphenylbenzylidene)-2-iminophenol (2, TPIP). The   imine 2 was reduced with NaBH4 in ethanol to give   N-(2',4',6'-triphenylbenzyl)-2-aminophenol (3, TPAP). Reaction of   trimethylaluminum with 2 or 3 results in the formation of the   complexes TPIP-AlMe2·AlMe3 (4) or TPAP-AlMe2 (5). Crystal   structures of 2, 3, and 4 are reported. [on SciFinder(R)]
