  Abstract: The interest in using CO2 as a   building block for making higher contg. carbon compds. has   continued to grow over the past years. Our interest has been in   finding potential catalyst systems that can facilitate insertion   reactions of CO2 and other mols. Zinc(II) tetraazacycloalkanes   take up CO2 readily and reversibly to give zinc methylcarbonate   complexes. We have prepd. series of zinc(II)   1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane complexes with substituents on   one of the nitrogens. These mono-N-functionalized complexes have   been characterized by various anal. methods including X-ray   diffraction. We report these results along with the reaction   chem. using high-pressure carbon dioxide. [on SciFinder(R)]
