  Abstract: A bifunctional m-terphenyl,   2,6-diphenyl-1,4-dibenzoic acid (Ph2BDC), was synthesized and   used in the prepn. of a 2-dimensional metal-org. coordination   polymer {Zn(Ph2BDC-2H)(EtOH)·EtOH}n. The steric hindrance of the   bulky bifunctional linker forces low coordination at the   Lewis-acidic Zn center. A Zn carboxylate dimer was prepd. as a   model compd. to examine the unusual tricoordinate geometry at the   metal site. [on SciFinder(R)]
