  Abstract:

  Isolation of marine Actinomycetes producing   active secondary metabolite citropeptin, that is toxic against   A549 lung cancer cells has been carried out. Isolation was   carried out using starch casein agar medium added with   cycloheximide and nystatin as antifungi, and also rifampicin and   nalidixic acid as antibacterial. Marine sediment samples were   obtained from the port of Kamaishishi Iwate, Japan at a depth of   5 meters. Seventy one isolates were obtained, but only 9 isolates   showed activity against A549 cancer cells at concentration of 1   μg/200 μL. The further study showed that isolate RS02-85 was   Streptomyces tsukubaensis (98%   similarity). The identification of active compound using ESI-LCMS   and 1H NMR indicated that this compound was proposed to be   citropeptin with a molecular weight of m/z (M+H)+  1035.4 g/mol and molecular formula

  C50H82N8O15.
