Transition-metal based nanoparticles have been prepd. at room temp. and characterized for the purpose of environmental applications. These nanomaterials are prepd. by a solvothermal method using various transition metals and para disubstituted arom. ligands such as aminophenol, hydroquinone, phenylenediamine, and aminothiophenol. These nanomaterials are being studied to det. if they could be further reduced by sodium borohydride (NaBH4). Particle shape, size and size distribution are studied using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD).
