National Meeting Program Toolkit

Version 2

    Why ACS Network

The ACS Network is utilized to make National Meeting programming an easier, offline process. Use of the ACS Network allows Program Chairs to focus more on their programs without having to learn a new system. Programming is completed by using templates in Microsoft Office and working closely with ACS Staff Administrators. The ACS Network is used as a forum for collaborating on files, allowing for easier access and communication throughout the programming process. The ACS Network uses the ACS ID, the same credentials you use to renew your dues or to access C&EN and other publications online.

    Program Chairs

The ACS Network has some very strong tools that can support National Meeting programming.  A secret group has been created to keep programming documents and discussions generated for and by Program Chairs and MAPS Staff Administrators. Secret groups can be accessed by invitation only. Program Chairs can choose to invite their Symposium Organizers. The document and file upload tools provide a better way for a group to write or review documents than by email. The secret group is used along with MAPS to manage national meeting symposia.

    Programming for ACS National Meetings

Use the ACS Network to help your program area decide how to set up symposia for ACS National Meetings.  Program Chairs, Symposium Organizers, and MAPS Staff Administrators will collaborate on documents used to program symposia and sessions. Events can be used for deadline reminders and keeping track of special events at meetings.

    Communication

The ACS Network can be used as a communication tool. Program Chairs can remind their Symposium Organizers about deadlines.   Group members can also choose to follow or track a person or a piece of content so that it appears in their activity stream.  They can set up their preferences to control the emails they receive around followed and tracked content.  Finally, announcements can be set in a group for all members to see.
