  Abstract: Simple, aq.-based syntheses for   methylpyridine and methylpyridine N-oxide decorated   3,4-dihydro-2H-benzoxazine-, 3,4-dihydro-2H-naphthoxazine- and   2,3-dihydro-1H-naphthoxazine- monomers, as well as thermally   promoted syntheses of bisdihydropyridinylmethyl oxazine derivs.   of substituted 1,5-, 2,6-, and 2,7- dihydroxynaphthalenes are   described. The crystal structures of two derivs. are presented.   The development of this chem. will permit studies of the metal   ion coordination chem. for these compds. which, in turn, will   guide the assembly of more complex chelating ligands as well as   assist in the development of polymer supported metal ion sepns.   agents.
