  Abstract:

A statistical program for the evaluation of data obtained from a thermal ionisation mass spectrometer is described. In this program the measured intensity data are subjected to a correction for background and signal drift. From these data isotope ratios are calculated. The existence of outliers in the calculated ratios is ascertained by means of a Dixon-criterion test. The ratios are then subjected to a Student-t-test   to obtain statistical evidence that the measured figures have a   value different from background. Finally, means and relative   standard deviations are calculated.
