Annual Career Event

The Puget Sound Section of the ACS sponsors the Annual Career Event for the benefit of undergraduate students in our section to help them learn about career options in chemistry.

This event is hosted at a local laboratory where chemists and other scientists are employed in large numbers.  The Department of Health Laboratories, Brightwater Waste Water Treatment Plant, NOAA Laboratories, Boeing Labs, King County Environmental Laboratories, and the Department of Ecology Laboratories are among some of our past hosting sites.

The event starts with a keynote speaker who will address the scientific challenges of the hosting institution and how the institution is responding to those challenges. In addition, a tour of the laboratory facilities of the hosting institution with opportunities to interact with the scientists and a career panel discussion are included. Participants also have time to network with students and faculty from multiple colleges, universities, and community colleges from the region who attend this event.

We invite all college faculty to encourage their students to make this annual event a part of their learning experience.

The Annual Career Event is free to all participants. We do ask participants to register since space is limited.
