The Southwest Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society thanks the Department of Chemistry at Georgia Southwester University for hosting our last meeting of the International Year of Chemistry 2011 on December 5, 2011. 20 members and 16 nonmembers attended the seminar "At the Interface of Alzheimer's Disease and Intelligent Materials" presented by Dr. David Lynn from Emory University.

 

 

 

The Southwest Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society thanks the Department of Chemistry at Valdosta State University for their organization at hosting the 30 Year Charter Anniversary Dinner and Outstanding Service awards presentation on September 22, 2011. 34 members and 10 nonmembers attended the seminar on The State of Chemistry in the International Year of Chemistry by speaker 2011 ACS President Dr. Nancy Jackson. The dedication of long-time service members was praised and in this occasion the Outstanding Service of Luz R. Marti, Jack Steele, and Optima Chemical Group represented by Jagvir Singh were specially recognized.

 

 

 

 

The Southwest Georgia Section of the American Chemical Society thanks Optima Chemical for their partnership in celebrating the outstanding students in our section and for the organization of the dinner on Thursday April 21st, 2011. 12 members and 23 nonmembers attended the award ceremony and the seminar on recycling of plastics presented by speaker Dr. William  Carrol.
