Change in Structure and Meeting Format for MPPG

Last December, the Multidisciplinary Program Planning Group (MPPG) held a Strategic Planning Retreat to review the subcommittee’s mission, structure and operations.  Recommendations from the retreat were evaluated and ratified by the MPPG Executive Committee during the ACS National Meeting in Dallas.  Approved changes include:

•  Up to two representatives from each division/committee can attend the MPPG meetings.

•  The Alternative Programming Subcommittee has been eliminated.  There will now be two MPPG Sub-Committees: (1) Communications & (2) Outreach and Thematic Programming.  Both committees will meet by conference call with the members prior to each national meeting and will give brief reports during the MPPG General meeting.

•  The Exec Committee will meet by conference call prior to the ACS meeting and will give a brief report during the MPPG General Meeting.  The Exec Committee will no longer have a separate Exec Committee meeting, essentially folded into the MPPG General meeting.

In San Francisco, the general meeting will also be reformatted to allow for the presentation of the upcoming thematic programs, and to permit participants to network with the theme organizers and other MPPG representatives to develop collaborative programming.

MPPG Representatives General Meeting

In addition to the subcommittee conference calls, all MPPG Division/Committee Representatives are invited to participate in the MPPG Representatives General Meeting at the San Francisco ACS National Meeting to discuss the thematic programs for 2015 – 2019.  Each Division or programming Committee can send up to 2 representatives to the meeting.  MPPG recommends that the representative should be experienced with Division or Committee programming and strategy (i.e., a past division chair or program chair) and a “junior” individual who is eager to learn the process and provide additional support.
