About NOK ACS

Blog Post created by Codruta Platon on Apr 1, 2019

ACS local section participation by Oklahomans started in 1919 with the founding of the Oklahoma Section. The northeastern section was founded in 1947, splitting off from the Oklahoma Section to better meet the needs of the petroleum industry in that region.  A 2012 merger of the North Central and Northeastern Oklahoma sections led to the formation of the Northern Oklahoma section of the ACS, as outlined in the current map.

The NOK-ACS stands before a rich, long history of local ACS section activity.  Explore the historical roots of the NOK-ACS in "Chemistry and Innovation in Northeast Oklahoma," below.
