2011 ACS President’s Challenge

Thank you for your continued efforts to help grow the ACS membership.  Thus far, ACS local sections and divisions have recruited 2,535 new members through the ACS President’s Challenge!

The ACS has three different resources to help you keep up the good work.  Each of the following Web sites describes the benefits of ACS membership for students and chemists abroad.

Worldwide.ACS.org - to help you recruit international members

GradStudent.ACS.org - to help you recruit graduate students

Undergrad.ACS.org - to help you recruit undergraduate students

By bringing in students and international members, you can benefit from an increase in participation and contributions from these new members.

For full details about the President’s Challenge, visit www.acs.org/MAC.

The ACS Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) and the CIBA Foundation are proud to introduce the CIBA/YCC Young Scientist Travel Award. The program provides funding for young and early-career chemists to travel to and participate in an ACS national or regional meeting. Through this program, the YCC and the CIBA Foundationcontinue to support development of younger chemists in the chemical sciences. The award is intended for young scientists (under 35) who have post-doctoral appointments OR are within the first seven (7) years of their professional career. CIBA/YCC Young Scientist Travel Awards are awarded twice each year but the number of awards granted yearly will vary subject to available funding. Each award will equal $500.

Call for Applications – Priscilla Carney Jones Scholarship

The Priscilla Carney Jones Scholarship was established by Paul R. Jones, in memory of his wife.  It provides scholarships for female undergraduate majors in chemistry or related disciplines who are beginning their junior or senior year of study.  Priscilla Carney Jones wished to have this scholarship established because of the difficulties she faced as a female chemist early in her career.  Visit www.acs.org/diversity for more details.  Submission deadline is May 1, 2011.
