College educators are invited to apply for a position as mentor for the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad program for the 2016-2018 term. Successful applicants are expected to have background in one or more of the areas of organic, inorganic, analytical, physical, or biochemistry with classroom experience and should demonstrate involvement with students in special projects or activities.  Applicants must be prepared to make a three-year term commitment.  ACS pays expenses and travel costs, as well as an honorarium. Applicants must be US citizens.

The United States Senate passed a resolution designating the week beginning on October 19, 2014 as National Chemistry Week. The resolution was sponsored by Senators Chris Coons (D-Delaware) and Pat Toomey (R-Rhode Island). 

 

ACS received a letter  from President Barack Obama thanking “the professionals and volunteers who are opening eyes, sparking imaginations and cultivating tomorrow’s leaders in chemistry,” and wishing our students “the very best as they push themselves to think big and reach even higher.”
