The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad is proud to announce the finalists who will represent the U.S. at the 49th International Chemistry Olympiad in Nakhom Pathon, Thailand, July 6 - 15, 2017.

 

The members of the U.S. Team Alpha Kappa are:

 

Steven Liu of Monta Vista High School, CA, Santa Clara Valley Local Section

Joshua Park of Lexington High School, MA, Northeastern Local Section             

Harrison Wang, from Hinsdale Central High School, IL, Chicago Local Section

Brendan Yap, from Carmel High School, IN, Indiana Local Section; and

 

Alternates:

1st alternate: Jeffrey Shi of Marcellus High School, NY, Central New York Local Section

2nd alternate: Aniket Dehadrai of Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, OK, Oklahoma Local Section; 

 

 

The Team U.S. will travel to Thailand accompanied by mentors:

  1. Dr. Michael Danahy, Bowdoin College, ME, College Mentor
  2. Dr. Patrick Chan, Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, NY, High School Mentor
  3. Dr. Christine Saber, Gannon University, PA, College Mentor

The Committee on Corporation Associates provides funding for ACS Local Sections and International Chapters to promote industry-focused events at the local section and international chapter level. Events such as job fairs with local chemical employers, résumé writing workshops, networking receptions, and panel discussions with industry leaders benefit local section and international chapter members employed in industry.

 

Upon review and approval of submissions, Corporation Associates will fund up to $1,000 to help subsidize the costs associated with hosting these events.
