Research and Special Interests:
Fundamental study on molecular transport kinetic in mesoporous space using confocal laser scanning microsope (CLSM). Spherical mesoporous particles in micron-range (6 to 40 micron meters) are employed as model material for quantitative studies of molecular transport kinetic, both at bulk level and in meso-space within the mesoporous spheres. We have also managed to extand this technique to detect and follow the leaching of lipase molecules immobilized within large-pore mesoporous spheres.
Colloidal SMS particles are utilised as solid support for the lipid bilayer-membranes containing transmembrane proteins. This architecture serve as a tool for rapid and easy molecular screening and recognition. These colloidal particles are synthesis in-house and characterized in details to understand the spatial distribution of the mesoporous structure within a spherical geometry.
