Research and Special Interests: I enjoy teaching a variety of chemistry classes every semester. I write study packets for my students to help them get through the classes I teach. I studied a variety of courses in graduate school but concentrated in Inorganic as well as had a research project that included lanthanides and 6-N-donor macrocyclic ligands. Currently, I tend to enjoy the chemical education aspect of my job. I volunteer at a local elementary school helping teachers find small grants for science supplies and teaching specific science activities for grades k-5. One of my goals this year is to set up a program for high school teachers to put together a new lab manual that is more "green" and fits with the strict specifications of chemicals they are allowed to use in the classroom. My favorite elements are mercury, arsenic and samarium.
Area of Expertise: Inorganic chemistry, evaluating lab manuals, developing study guides for various levels of chemistry, mentoring teachers in science, writing mini-grants for k-12 teachers
Years of Expertise: 21-25
