Research and Special Interests:
I have formal academic training in several fields including chemistry, biochemistry, environmental toxicology, molecular biology, and developmental biology. In addition, I have industrial training in the fields of chemical toxicology and environmental virology. My research experience includes work in academic and industrial laboratories over ten years. My formal teaching experience began in the fall of 2000 when I accepted a teaching position as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Mars Hill College. That year I taught General and Organic Chemistry courses. I am now an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Brevard College teaching courses in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. I am also an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University researching osteoarthritis. Presently, I am on sabbatical leave researching metabolic and inflammatory diseases and teaching graduate courses at Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea.
