ACS Leadership Institute Planned for January 22-24, 2016 in Dallas, TX

The next ACS Leadership Institute is being planned for January 22-24, 2016 in Dallas, Texas. DAC will once again organize the division track, which will be primarily designed for 2016 chair-elects (though other division leaders, too, will benefit from attendance). Please mark your calendar not only for the 2016 Leadership Institute, but also for the appropriate time this September or October when it will be time for your division to start thinking about who to send to the event.

The goal of the Leadership Institute is to provide your representatives with essential information, training, and connections to assist them in executing their volunteer duties as easily and effectively as possible. Your representative will have ample opportunities to interact and exchange ideas with other division officers, and ACS governance.

In addition, your representative will have the opportunity to participate in two 4-hour courses that are a part of the ACS Leadership Development System (one course will be held on Saturday morning, January 23, and one that afternoon). These courses will help participants develop core leadership skills that not only will be important in advancing your division, but in many instances help division leaders become more valuable in their ‘day jobs.’

Divisions are charged a fee to help underwrite the cost of meals, conference materials and two nights lodging (for the 2015 Leadership Institute, that fee was $425). The 2016 fee is yet to be determined. In addition, divisions cover the cost of travel arrangements (except for travel from the airport in Dallas to the hotel, and back to the airport).

The 2015 Leadership Institute attracted 28 division representatives from 23 divisions. DAC hopes to see at least one representative from each division at the 2016 Leadership Institute. Please mark your calendars for this essential training. We project that registration will open in early November (2015) and close in early January (2016).
