Research and Special Interests: LING CHEN is Professor of Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter (FIRSM) at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) since 2003. She received her MS from Beijing Normal University and her PhD from FIRSM, CAS, 1999, and carried her postdoctoral research in Iowa State University USA with Prof. John D. Corbett from 2000 to 2003. Professor Chen won “One Hundred Talent Project” from CAS in 2003, and “the Distinguished Lectureship Award” at the “Asian International Symposium for Outstanding Young Scientists” in Tokyo from Japan Chemical Society in 2008. Her group's research efforts focus on inorganic and materials chemistry dealing with synthesis, characterization and understanding of novel solid-state functional materials, especially thermoelectric multinary antimonides, tellurides and novel nonlinear optical materials.
