Research and Special Interests: B. Sc. in Pharmacy at Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) - Brazil (1986), Ph.D. degree in Science, field of Organic Chemistry at UFMG (1994). During the Ph.D. program took two years of fellowship at the Department of Chemistry in the University of Alberta (Edmonton -; Canada). Post-Doctoral fellow at University of Liverpool in the field of biotransformation of organic compounds (1998). Presently is working as a Research Associate Professor III and research advisor of Master"s and Doctoral Programs at the Department of Chemistry in the UFMS. Experienced in Organic Synthesis, mainly in the following subjects: i) synthesis of potential cytotoxic phenolic compounds ii) synthesis of phenolic lipids and iiii) chemical transformations of bioactive natural products. Is associate editor of the new peer-reviewed Electronic Journal of Chemistry (Orbital) of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul and has been reviewer of Quimica Nova (ISSN 0100-4042), Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049) and European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (ISSN 0223-5234).
