Magnesium to boost Li-ion Batteries

Magnesium addition in organic electrode developed for Li-ion batteries shows a significant energy increase.

The needs in terms of electricity storage are being upgraded by organic electrode materials having advantages of naturally abundant elements (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen or sulfur) and simplified recycling scheme.

Today, one of the most difficulties is obtaining lithiated organic materials capable of operating at high redox potential. Associating Magnesium in the organic materials structure can be a solution to have dual redox functionality in Li-ion battery with an average operating voltage delivery of 2.5 volts.
