Research and Special Interests:
I currently oversee grant logistics, finances, collaborations, outreach and public dissemination for the Enzyme Function Initiative (EFI). The EFI is an NIH-supported U54 Glue Grant that brings together nearly 70 researchers at 7 institutions in the US. The EFI is developing robust sequence/structure‑based strategies for facilitating discovery of in vitro enzymatic and in vivo physiological functions of unknown enzymes discovered in genome projects, a crucial limitation in genomic biology.
My previous research spanned the areas of protein biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, microbiology and bioengineering.
