ACS Activities: Suggested having a PfLAGS workshop at UCR and later attended the PfLAGS workshop in June 2009 at the UCR Chemistry Department courtesy of the ACS and Dr. Joel Schuman.
Company/Institution Name: Meso Scale Diagnostics
Career Stage: Professional
Research and Special Interests: I am currently an Engineering Scientist at Meso Scale Diagnostics (MSD). I am a Ph.D. scientist and project manager with over five years biotech industry experience. MSD is a multiplexed biological measurements company. I lead a small team focusing on the research and development of new instruments and associated consumables based on our proprietary electrochemiluminescence (ECL) technology. My day-to-day work focuses on systems engineering, project management, and bioanalytical method development. I finished my Ph.D. in analytical chemistry in the spring of 2011 at the University of California-Riverside in Dr. Quan "Jason" Cheng's research lab. My research work based on biosensors was very interdisciplinary spanning the fields of chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering with the goal to develop novel biosensors and biosensing interfaces. Mainly I used surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and SPR imaging along with other surface spectroscopic techniques to characterize a variety of biological interactions.
