In this early phase of my research career, my goal is to use nucleic acid self-assembly to generate nanodevices with programmable abilities to recognize targets (as inputs) and generate accurate, easily measurable signals (as outputs) for applications in molecular medicine. My primary current objective is to achieve the multiplexed, quantitative detection of biomolecular tumour markers, contained in small-volume sub-compartments of heterogeneous tissue samples, such as from biopsies, for enabling next-generation diagnostic and prognostic tools for treating highly aggressive tumours such as lung cancer.
