Research and Special Interests:
I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Rhode Island. We are studying supramolecular organic chemistry as the basis for detection of a variety of analytes, including carcinogenic PAHs and small-molecule explosives.
Previously, I was a post-doctoral research fellow in the Swager group at MIT, hwere I studied energy transfer from organic polymers to small molecule fluorophores with the goal of developing new sensors for disease detection based on amplifying fluorescent polymers.
During graduate school, I studied chiral amino acid derivatives found on meteorites with the goal of developing a plausible hypothesis for the origin of homochirality.
Area of Expertise:
physical organic chemistry, organic synthesis, organic polymers, material fabrication, photophysical studies of organic polymers
Years of Expertise:
