Research and Special Interests: Dr. Novella N. Bridges is a senior research chemist in the Operations & Process Transformation Research Group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Novella Bridges research interest has always centered on the development and analysis of catalysts systems, specifically homogeneous systems. Recently, she has broadened her scope to include heterogeneous systems. Previous, she was investigating the creation of new heterogeneous catalyst system used in the creation of high value bio-based products, and the investigation of new catalyst systems used for the treatment of diesel emissions in automobiles, lightweight trucks and locomotives. Currently, she is involved in the development of radio-labeled composites as therapeutic agents for cancer treatments. In addition to these research activities, Dr. Bridges is currently the training lead for the US Customs training program, specifically the RPM (Radiation Portal Monitoring) and the RIID (Radiation Isotope Identification Device). She has also worked on a multi-laboratory team developing presentations for border personnel to identify dual use chemicals and chemical equipment used in or for chemical warfare.
