Research and Special Interests: Renatus W. Sinkeldam earned his Ph.D. in 2006 under the supervision of Professor E. W. Meijer and Dr J. A. J. M. Vekemans at Eindhoven University of Technology in The Netherlands, for his work on the design, synthesis, and spectroscopic analysis of small organic dyes and helical foldamers. Currently, he works as an assistant project scientist in the group of Professor Y. Tor at the University of California, San Diego. His research interests include design, synthesis, and spectroscopic study of isomorphic fluorescent nucleosides and their incorporation into nucleic acids. The current research is focused on minimially modified fluorescent nucleosides aimed to emit in the far red.
