Research and Special Interests: An ever student of physics with almost 27 years experience of experimental physics at laboratories of university and research institutions in India with periods of research in France, Germany extended experience has been gained in investigating Defects of Semiconductors, of metals and of Polymers , using mainly Positron Annihilation lifetime Spectroscopy, Doppler Broadening Annihilation detection systems. Further experience concerns state of the art instruments involving Ion irradiation, Low temperature studies, Isochronal Annealing , Thermal Analysis by DSC, Raman Spectroscopy, Mossbauer Spectroscopy , High and low vacuum technologies to characterize single crystals. Her entire thesis work was sponsored by agencies like CSIR, DAE, UGC of India and Atomic Energy Commission of France. After joining Visva-Bharati University from a Engineering University (BITS-Pilani, Rajasthan-India) take up the work of developing a laboratory with nuclear technique. Protracted efforts materialized at the end of 2006 when an AC Laboratory of 450 sq.ft utilizing "overhead" earnings from SERC, DST project fund(s) see the light of the day and she completed the set-up of a Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy in that laboratory at the Physics department of Visva-Bharati university, India. From scratch to Laboratory room and a system raises a hope for meaningful research for aspirant students of a locality situated in a semi-urban set up. The performances of the system are state of the art. At present engaged in setting up of "Isochronal Annealing System" at that laboratory after having financial sanction of INR 19, 89, 750 from "Board of Research in Nuclear Science" Department of Atomic Energy , Government of India . Further experience has been gained at the Martin-Luther University, Germany , carrying out projects in collaboration with ITA Inst. Innovative Technologies, Germany , Maria-Curie Sklodowska University, Poland, Bristol University, UK, Institute of Polymer Research, Dresden, Germany , Dyneon GmbH & Co, Germany , on Soft materials in the field of free volume studies. To pursue research on free volume studies of polymeric materials by applying combined multiplied non-destructive nuclear techniques, a multi-institutional research project under her guidance amounting INR 40,25,000 has been submitted to SERC, DST , Government of India for sanction. Dr Sengupta has 25 years experience in data analysis involving standard and dedicated programs such as PATFIT, LT0.9 etc. Her present international collaborators are from Germany, UK, Belarus, Poland, Egypt and national collaborators are from DRDO, Ministry of Defense, Govt of India, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, DAE , Kolkata, CSR-DAE-UGC, Kolkata Center , School of Chemical Sciences, MG University, Kerala , BIDHANNAGAR GOVERNMENT COLLEGE , Govt. of West Bengal, KOLKATA and DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY, MAR THOMA COLLEGE, INDIA. An important research mode, intra-laboratory measurement protocol is pursued from her laboratory on a polymeric material prepared by School of Chemical Sciences , MG University. Her published works were cited 18 times by different research physics groups of theory and experiment including a citation by a "Springer" published book and by the Ministry of Energy, Government of USA At present, five research scholars are working on different problems of experimental physics under her guidance.
