Cal ACS Outreach at the Solano Stroll - 10 September 2017

The California Section returned to the Solano Stroll on Sunday 10 September 2017.  This annual event is possibly the biggest street festival in the SF Bay Area, with attendance estimated of 200,000.  Despite the challenging conditions, especially the heat and a Taiko drumming marathon from mid-afternoon on, we shared the chemistry story with hundreds of visitors.  Many were fascinated by Peter Olds' mineral samples, and most took Periodic Tables and copies of the NCW 2017 edition of Celebrating Chemistry, "Chemistry Rocks!"

Dozens of kids tried out the crystal-growing activities, and took colorful borax solutions with them to watch the progress later.
