Monday:

5K Fun Run, 6:30 AM (Sign up at Hilton front desk on Sunday or at Poster Session) 
Signup for the race will take place at the Hilton front desk on Sunday and at the UG Poster Session on Sunday night. Runners will meet at the Hilton Lobby no later than 6:15 am. We will depart from the Hilton by foot with a warmup jog down E-Street towards W. 2^nd Ave.  The run will begin at 6:30 am at the head of the Coastal Trail at 2^nd and H-Street.

Women Chemist Luncheon, Keynote Speaker: Arlene Blum 11:30 - 1:00PM
"Tackling Toxics: The Chemical Class Approach Toward Healthier Products"

Arlene Blum PhD, biophysical chemist, author, and mountaineer is a Visiting Scholar in Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley and executive director of the Green Science Policy Institute. The Institute brings government, industry, scientists and citizens groups together worldwide to support chemical policies to protect human health and the global environment.  Blum’s research and policy work has contributed to preventing the use harmful chemicals in children's sleepwear, furniture, electronics, and other products world-wide.  Her current “mountain,” which she considers her life’s most challenging, is to educate decision makers in industry and government to reduce the use of entire classes of harmful chemicals. Arlene Blum led the first American­ and all-women’s­ ascent of Annapurna I, considered one of the world’s most dangerous and difficult mountains, co-led the first women’s team to climb Denali, completed the Great Himalayan Traverse across the mountain regions of  Bhutan, Nepal, and India, and hiked the length of the European Alps with her baby daughter on her back. She is the author of Annapurna: A Woman’s Place and Breaking Trail: A Climbing Life.

Salmon Bake - Alaska Native Heritage Center 7:00PM - 9:00PM. 
Dinner and a dance performance by Alaska Native dance troupe will be offered at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.  The Alaska Native Heritage Center is an educational and cultural institution for all Alaskans, located in Anchorage, Alaska. The center opened in 1999 and shares the heritage of Alaska's 11 major cultural groups.  Buses will provide transportation between the Egan Convention Center and the ANHC.

All Glacier Discovery Train Tours depart from downtown Anchorage on the SAME train.  After several brief stops, the train proceeds t to the Spencer Glacier Whistle Stop where a well-maintained, 1.3-mile Chugach National Forest Service path leads from the tracks to the edge of Spencer Lake and a spectacular view of massive Spencer Glacier.  The train proceeds to the alpine meadows of Grandview, returns, picking up Spencer Whistle Stop passengers en route to downtown Anchorage.   All passengers have the return trip option to disembark at Portage for a motor-coach transfer back to Anchorage, eliminating the train return trip to Whittier and saving about 2 ½ hours of travel time.  Sandwiches, snacks and beverage service are available on the train and at various stops.
