Is heating without burning still considered combustion? for instance in the new IQOS vape products. They claim to be non-commbusting but isn't any change in the pod considered combustion if heat is applied even if there is no visible flame.  And even if it's non-burning is it still combustion.

Combustion is the term used for rapid oxidation of compounds.

The vape solution is vaporized into an aerosol, which people inhale. It is similar to boiling water and inhaling the steam produced. The water is not oxidized, just a change of state. For a vape solution, most of the solution is not oxidized (some of the readily oxidizable compounds could be oxidized).
