Is it possible through the substitution reaction mechanism to react ethane with water to obtain an alcohol as a primary product and Hydrogen gas as a by product? Technically this could fall under a substitution hydrolysis reaction by definition (addition of water to saturated hydrocarbon) but I am unsure if this reaction is possible due to the common hydrolysis reaction being between a haloalkane and water to produce an alcohol.
