I do consulting work and today a client asked me about the pharmaceutical supply chain, or more specifically what chemicals are the most vital ones in it. I knew that I could start researching this myself, but I though the ACS community could help me at least direct my search.
I suspect that willow bark is no longer as a raw material for aspirin, but could someone please either provide me with a list of the most necessary chemicals for pharmaceutical manufacture or point me to a good reference? By raw materials I don't necessary mean something like a plant extract, but rather what solvents, catalysts, or molecules are the most widely used in the industry.
Thanks very much!
