Program Starter Grants Available

ACS Local Sections could receive up to $500 in starter grants this year.

The ACS Office of Public Affairs is funding a starter grant program to encourage ACS Local Sections to form government affairs and/or public relations committees.  The program will award local sections a grant of up to $500 for the formations of both these committees; if only one committee is formed a grant of $250 will be awarded.  Application deadline is November 30, 2009.

To apply for the grant all a local section needs to do is provide the following information

• Type of Committee formed
• Name of Committee Chair
• Committees Chair Contact information
• Local Section
• Local Section Treasurer
• Local Section Treasurer Contact information
• Planned Program Activity for 2010

Two additional sections have formed a committee.  We now have 94 local sections with government affairs committees.  Can we reach 100?

Deadline for starter grants is fast approaching.  Please contact Brad Smith if your section wishes to receive this free money.  Even if you are not connected with your sections leadership, ACS staff can held you form a committee.

I join Brad in urging you to submit your requests for starter grants. So far we have heard from five local sections who will have Public Relations Chairs/Committees and receive starter grant funds. We hope we hear from more of you. We're happy to help you with your application.
