iron from hemoglobin

I was wondering if there was a way to separate the iron from the rest of the hemoglobin in your blood without oxidizing the iron. The only way I could come up with is incinerating the blood, then mixing it with water to separate the iron. But it leaves a portion of the iron oxidized. Is there something else I could try? I am by no means a chemist. I am just trying something out that I thought would be fun.

Re: iron from hemoglobin

First to separate the oxidising agent (free radicals) from blood then separate iron.
