Outstanding Service Award
Winner: Jerry Gargulak, Borregaard USA
Purpose: To recognize outstanding service to the CWS and the field of Chemistry.
Nature: The award consists of an engraved plaque and is presented annually in the Spring at an award banquet at which the recipient is a guest of the CWS. In addition, the recipient's name is added to a fifteen-year plaque maintained and displayed by the CWS.
Establishment and Support: The award was established in 1976 and supported by the CWS.
Rules of Eligibility: The recipient must be a member or an affiliate of the CWS.
College Chemistry Senior Award
Winner: Jordan Scharf, UWSP
Purpose: To recognize significant achievement in the chemical sciences at the undergraduate level by a student who will enter their senior year in the fall of the Award year.
Nature: The award, consisting of $500 and an engraved plaque, is presented annually in the Spring at an award banquet at which the recipient is a guest of Section. In addition, the recipient's name is added to a fifteen-year plaque maintained and displayed by the Section.
Rules of Eligibility: The nominee must be a matriculated full-time student entering their senior year in the fall of the cal- endar year in which the in which award is given. The awardee shall be enrolled in a curriculum leading to an undergrad- uate degree in Chemistry or a chemically related science. Further, the nominee must within the territory assigned to the CWS or be matriculated in a college or university within its borders. The nominee must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0 and the nomination be accompanied by two supporting letters from faculty, and a brief state- ment by the nominee giving his/her reasons for choosing a career in the chemical sciences.
Outstanding Contributions to Chemistry Award
Winner: Patricia Cleary, Professor of Chemistry at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
Purpose: To recognize significant achievement through research, publication and contribution to the disciple of chemistry by a member of the CWS.
Nature: The award consists of an engraved plaque and is presented in the Spring at an award banquet at which the recipient is a guest of the CWS. In addition, the recipient's name is added to a fifteen-year plaque maintained and displayed by the Section.
