Our two confirmed panelists are Dr. Dave Harwell, a major figure within ACS as the Assistant Director of industry Member Programs and, and Kinnari Saraiya, the Chicago region manager of Kelly Scientific Resources, a major scientific employment firm. We are working on brining in at least one more panelist, who should be from a large pharma firm in the are, for the in-house perspective in that segment of the chemical industry.
We'll have a pre-dinner talk given on Ms. Saraiya offering guidance on how to prepare for today's job market.
Our main panel discussion will focus on industry trends that affect employment: the effects on layoffs by large firms and the apparent shifts toward small companies, contract organizations, and contract workers.
While we encourage you to become a member of the Chicago ACS, membership is not required to attend our events.
I also encourage you to reach out to ChemPharma, whose chair in Chicago this year I recall is Matt Dudley. I'll share his contact info with you privately. I know that organization is concerned with employing medicinal chemists, and we'll probably involve them in our April meeting.
