ACS knows that in many cases, perhaps most cases, our division volunteers are working on ACS responsibilities during evenings and weekends, when staff is largely unavailable. To address this reality, staff maintains web pages known as “Get Involved, Stay Involved,” also known as GISI.

This online resource is where you’ll find tips, tools and news to efficiently execute your volunteer duties. The pages are designed for both veteran volunteers and new volunteers, and feature essential links to procedures and resources specifically geared towards divisions.

GISI is grouped into six essential functional areas:

  • • Operations
  • • National Meetings
  • • Engaging Members
  • • Event & Meeting Planning
  • • Leadership Skills
  • • Division Information

On these pages, you will find detailed help on how to submit your annual report, review resources for program chairs, create and submit an Innovative Project Grant, request an e-Roster, self-nominate for a ChemLuminary award, conduct elections, file taxes, review division demographics, peruse ACS Leadership Courses, and more.

Staff is conducting a complete review of GISI this year, to ensure that the resource is the best it can possibly be. Stay tuned. In the meantime, if you have any questions, comments or suggestions for GISI, please e-mail us at division@acs.org.
