The UIUC Women Chemists Committee along with the East Central Illinois ACS will be co-hosting "World of Colors: The Chemistry of Natural Dyes", an Earth day event on Monday April 25th, 2016 from 6-7:30 pm at 263 Noyes Lab (505 S Mathews Ave, Urbana, IL 61801).
In celebration of Earth Day, this hands-on workshop will allow participants to learn about natural dyes. Throughout history, dyes derived from plants and minerals have been used to color textiles. Participants will learn about the history and chemistry of natural dyes and textiles and have the opportunity to do hands on activities using natural dyes to color provided fabrics.
ALL Department of Chemistry graduate students, post-docs, faculty and staff are invited along with any member of the East Central Illinois ACS and their family members. Ages 10 and up are invited. Any children under 18 must have a guardian present with them during the event. Space is limited!
