what are you most interested and excited about in the field? Find something within this field of interest!

That really depends on what you want to do.  If your school doesn't have active research groups, look into the NSF REU program (US NSF - REU - Search for an REU Site).  There are lots of great opportunities out there.

The ACS also has a nice list of undergrad research opportunities.  The URL is too long to post, but just Google "undergraduate research opportunities in chemistry"; it will be the first link.
