What engagement opportunities does ACS provide for high school junior and senior students who have taken AP level Chemistry classes?
ACS provides student membership options for college students. However, there are no similar opportunities available for high school students who take AP or IB level chemistry classes, which are equivalent to a basic CHEM 101 level class at a community college. Can ACS provide greater involvement opportunities to there students to encourage them to pursue chemistry (or a related science) in college?

Re: What engagement opportunities does ACS provide for high school junior and senior students who have taken AP level Chemistry classes?
The ACS has a relatively new high school chemistry club program, "ChemClubs" currently with about 350 high schools participating, and rapidly growing. If there is not such a club already in existence at a particular school, the students could join together to work with their chemistry teachers to form one. For more information, follow the links at www.acs.org under the "Education" tab at the top, to resources for HS students.

You should also check out the Chemistry Olympiad (although it is too late for this year I think)
Next year 2012 is extra special because the international olympiad is being held in the US.
There is also Project SEED (Summer Research Internship Program for Economically Disadvantaged High School Students)

Ashwani, Kevin's suggestion of the Olympiad is a good one, although he is correct about it maybe being too late for this year (I don't know about Southern California, but here in the California Section we have our Olympiad on April 16th and the teams have already been selected). Try also checking with the officers of your local section to see what specific opportunities they might have for HS chemistry students.
