I am very happy to inform you that Dr. Mark R. Bortolus has been selected for the Best Doctoral Thesis Award for the year 2023. He conducted his doctoral study with Prof. Gary J. Schrobilgen.
Indeed, it is a great recognition of Dr. Bortolus' outstanding contribution to Fluorine Chemistry during his doctoral study especially "on the syntheses and structural characterizations of fluoride and oxyfluoride derivatives of the noble-gas and transition-metal (TM) elements in their highest oxidation states and at the limits of coordination." I am sure that his work under Gary's esteemed supervision will be a great reference source for many already working in the field and the newcomers.
Thanks to Gary for training such an exemplary student as Dr. Bortolus as Gary has been doing so honorably over many decades. Congratulations and best wishes to Gary and Dr. Bortolus.
