Green Chemistry education is essential for preparing the next generation of scientists and citizens to address today’s environmental and health challenges. But for too many educators, access to the right training has been limited by time, cost, or geography.

Recognizing this gap, Beyond Benign, a leading global nonprofit organization dedicated to Green Chemistry education, has launched Beyond Benign Courses: a new on-demand learning hub designed to make sustainable chemistry training available to educators everywhere.

The platform offers courses created by educators, for educators, with tools and strategies that can be applied immediately in classrooms and labs. Participants will also be able to continue conversations and share experiences through the Green Chemistry Teaching and Learning Community (GCTLC), which serves as the gathering place for educators to connect, ask questions, and collaborate around course topics and beyond.

Beyond Benign Courses’ debut course, An Introduction to Undergraduate Green Chemistry Teaching & Practice, is tailored for educators who want to bring Green Chemistry into their lectures, labs, and curricula. The course offers interactive sessions with practical strategies, real-world case studies, and ready-to-use teaching materials. Participants will explore how to embed Green Chemistry Principles across academic settings, with a focus on environmental justice, hands-on applications, and alignment with academic standards. The course is designed to help educators build confidence in fostering critical thinking and sustainability in science education.

“On-demand courses open the door for more educators to engage with Green Chemistry,” said Beyond Benign Executive Director Dr. Amy Cannon. “This platform is a way for us to extend our mission, ensuring that accessible, high-quality training is available to everyone who wants to be part of building a more sustainable world through chemistry.”

Additional Beyond Benign Courses offerings are already in the pipeline, including a lab-to-market course that explores how Green Chemistry principles intersect with product development, safety, and regulation, launching in 2026. While designed with educators in mind, this six-module program is also relevant for professionals seeking to introduce safer, more sustainable products to the market. Participants will examine topics such as toxicology basics, global chemical regulations, life cycle assessment, and the societal impacts of product design, preparing them to connect classroom concepts to real-world applications.
